New addition to Water Meadows' "wall of fame"

The magical moment local swimming sensations Ollie Hynd and Charlotte Henshaw realised their Paralympic dream is now on display at the pool where they both put in the hours of training needed to be the best in the world.

Mansfield District Council, which spotted and nurtured Ollie and Charlotte's talents from an early age through its swimming development programme, has unveiled two giant pictures of the duo at the Water Meadows Swimming Complex.

The three metre high photographs are positioned at poolside, one showing Ollie with his gold medal after winning the SM8 200m individual medley in London and the other picturing Charlotte on the podium after claiming silver in the SB6 100m Breaststroke.

Ollie also won silver in the S8 Men's 400m Freestyle and bronze in the S8 100m Backstroke.

Executive Mayor Tony Egginton will unveil the photos. He said: "The poolside at Water Meadows is quickly becoming a wall of fame, as the photos of Ollie and Charlotte will join the one of Sam that we placed poolside following his tremendous success at the Beijing 2008 Games.

"As well as providing a tribute to our Paralympic swimmers' incredible achievements, we hope the picture will serve as an inspiration to all our other elite young swimmers."
