Notts Police and Crime Commissioner election - candidates' briefing session

A briefing session for potential candidates and agents for the Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner election takes place at 6pm on Wednesday 19 September at Rushcliffe Civic Centre, Pavilion Rd, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 5FE.

Anyone interested in standing as a candidate, or who wants to find out more about standing, should attend. Details about the role of Police and Crime Commissioners can be found at

Attendees will find out more about the election process including the role of the Police Area Returning Officer (PARO), more about the nomination process and how to stand, and details of the count. Candidates need to be 18 or older, registered to vote in Nottinghamshire and be British, Irish or an EU or Commonwealth citizen. Candidates can stand for a political party or as an independent candidate.

Candidates will need 100 signatures and there is a returnable deposit of £5,000 assuming they get enough votes. The deadline for receipt of candidate nominations is noon on 19 October 2012 and nominations should be returned to the PARO at Rushcliffe Borough Council. The Council will publish the list of candidates on Tuesday 23 October. The Home Office will publish the candidates' 'manifestos' on 26 October on the Home Office candidates' website.

The election takes place on 15 November and the count takes place at the Nottingham Tennis Centre on University Boulevard on Friday 16 November starting at 12 noon.
