New gym opens at Oaktree Leisure Centre

Oak Tree Leisure Centre has opened its new gym, following a massive refurbishment and the installation of new life fitness equipment and virtual bikes.

The upgrade is part of a £500K investment into Mansfield Leisure Centres, which has seen the refurbishment of the Water Meadows Swimming and Fitness Complex, the Meden Sports Centre gym, the River Maun Recreation Centre and the Rebecca Adlington Swimming Centre gym.

Brian Taylor, Chairman of the Mansfield District Leisure Trust, said: "This is an exciting time for the fitness facilities at Mansfield Leisure Centres and we hope to attract new people to the facilities with our new lower and more affordable pricing, including new rates for people over the age of 60, students, a low junior price and different packages available to reduce the monthly cost of our all inclusive membership. With the desire for more people to get fit following on from the Olympics, the facilities are geared up to welcome beginners to exercise and have fun. Whether it be walking, cycling, gym, rowing, swimming or gymnastics, we have something to inspire everyone during and following the games."

Cllr Philip Shields, Portfolio Holder for the Environment at Mansfield District Council said: "We have already seen a substantial amount of investment and work since the transfer of the management responsibilities in May and we look forward to continue working with the Mansfield District Leisure Trust to provide our residents, and those visiting from outside the District, with a quality experience when visiting our leisure centres."
