Oak Tree estate heating supply affected by house fire

The District Heating supply on the Oak Tree Lane Estate has been affected following a house fire on Morton Close, Mansfield, yesterday (Sunday 15 April).

The semi-detached house, which is owned by Mansfield District Council, will need to be demolished following a fire that left the two-storey property severely damaged.

Crews from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the fire at 2.48pm and it was brought under control at 5.43pm.

The occupiers were not in the property at the time of the fire and they have been offered temporary accommodation by the District Council until further arrangements can be made.

Crews from Mansfield, Blidworth and the Fire and Emergency Support Service from Derbyshire were in attendance.

The fire has caused a fracture in a pipe which supplies the District Heating system to properties on the estate. Contractors are carrying out repairs and hope to have the system working later today.

Contractors were able to repair the damage to the Oak Tree Lane District Heating system yesterday and heating was returned to residents' homes from approximately 8pm last night.

If residents are still experiencing problems with their heating, please contact Mansfield District Council on 01623 463 463 and we will send someone to investigate the fault as soon as possible.
