Party in the Park postponed

Mansfield's events calendar is jam packed with lots of exciting events set to take place this summer from the Olympic Torch visit to the new Mansfield Arts Festival. As a result, Mansfield District Council has taken the decision to postpone the Party in the Park event for one year.

Party in the Park is a one day music and entertainment event which forms part of the Summer in the Streets programme. The Summer in the Streets festival will still take place this year and will include a wide range of events across the District between July and August.

The full timetable for Summer in the Streets 2012 will be announced in coming months.

The District Council is busy making arrangements for a number of events for this year including:

  • Inspiring Mansfield including the grand finale at Berry Hill Park on 27 June
  • The Olympic Torch Relay visiting Mansfield District on 28 June
  • Mansfield Arts Festival from 7 to 15 July - including Project 2012: Mamesfelde to Mansfield on 14 and 15 July
  • Christmas Lights Switch-on (date to be confirmed)

Cllr Kate Allsop, Portfolio Holder for Economic Regeneration at Mansfield District Council said: "We have an exciting calendar of events planned for this year which people from across the District and surrounding areas can get involved in. We have had to look carefully at how we can ensure these events are a success and therefore allocate our resources effectively. As a result we have postponed Party in the Park for this year but it will be back with a bang in 2013."
